Riot Games began expanding last year by launching new games in different genres, and has devoted its energies almost exclusively to the universe of its star video game in 2021.
We’ll have a Netflix series in autumn, a single-player video game based on the League of Legends lore this year and a historical event that has already kicked off in the main game.
That event is Sentinels of Light, which will be active in League of Legends for the next few weeks. It is Riot Games’ most ambitious project to date to share more on the characters’ backstories and their universe with us.
The lore has always been fascinating, but the developer’s missteps in the early years wasted one of the most interesting stories in video gaming.
This is what makes Sentinels of Light so interesting, as it completes the process of reconstructing what the company has worked so hard on with the aim of reorganising the whole story.
So, some of the game’s most charismatic characters will have to face off for Runeterra in a fight between good and evil that will affect the future of this game in every way.
An exceptional situation that will let us interact with the characters, but that doesn’t mean we won’t also get the normal add-ons. Among other things, spectacular new skins for the themes of light and darkness.
There will be a new character, Aksan, champion number 156, promising to be spectacular in lore and playability. An unprecedented risk from Riot Games, which has come up with a character that is very uncommon in the mids.
There will also be other new additions revealed as the week progresses and the plot moves forward, with new playables joining the story.
What has been confirmed is that we’ll have a new play mode. It’s the Ultimate Spellbook, a much faster-paced experience that will give characters new skills for even more spectacular moments.
There’s only one problem with Sentinels of Light. Ruined King: A League of Legends Story was scheduled to launch alongside this event, but so far, there’s no news about it.
However, the fact that the video game was created to move the story forward proves Riot Games’ ambitiousness in terms of everything that is to come for League of Legends in the next few weeks.
Fortunately, the game is still going to drop in 2021, with a premiere sometime in the coming months. So, this event will be a good way to prepare for it.
Plus, Riot Games has made it easy for newbies to get up to date quickly with several contents, so there’s no excuse for missing the big date with League of Legends in 2021.
Whether you’re a veteran who has abandoned League of Legends or a gamer who never dared get into it, this is a historical opportunity to give it a chance.
