Call of Duty: Warzone has changed for good

After months of waiting after the launch of Black Ops Cold War, the third season of its second series has finally brought the changes players were waiting for

The success of this battle royale based on the Activision war franchise surprised even the game’s creators, but it was starting to get a bit monotonous for many users.

The integration with the new entry in the saga hadn’t quite worked and a real revolution was needed, and ended up coming in April to turn it on its head.

After a nuclear event in four parts, the game’s story took us back to 1984, a change from the Verdansk map, where all the action takes place in this battle royale.

So, we got a change of scene, with new areas of interest and changes to the ones that did survive this time leap. A radical new look, taking into account that the base of the map is exactly the same.

For players, it will be a breath of fresh air, and they’ll have to get used to places like the Quarry disappearing to give rise to completely new, unexplored areas.

However, this isn’t the only change in Warzone season 3. As always, we have a full packet of updates, with new weapons, battle passes and operators that are highly interesting.

Especially the operators, which have become the main focus of interest. Taking advantage of the new setting, some 1980s action heroes are about to make their debut.

So, soon we’ll see John McClane (Die Hard) or Rambo as playable characters in the Call of Duty battle royale universe, in a return to collaboration a la Fortnite.

So far, it’s all been good news. And things are only going to get better. For the first time since Black Ops Cold War was integrated into the game, nearly the whole community is happy with the direction playability has taken.

In recent months, there were repeated complaints about the lack of variety in useful weapons and that there were very few viable combinations for players who wanted to win the match. This was taking its toll on the game.

Now there are more and more opportunities. The tyranny of the FFAR, AUG and GRAU gives rise to many options for using a wide variety rifles and submachine guns, which gives players loads more options to personalise their play.

So, although there is still work to be done, it seems that Raven Software has managed to calm the waters and bring stability back to a Warzone that should have six more months of new updates ahead.

They maintain the constant updates, weapon add-ons and big changes season after season, plus some future projects like aiming to make matches fairer.

Even cheaters seem to have a harder time after the latest updates. Activision has got things in gear to resolve the main issues of Call of Duty: Warzone and coddle its goose that lays the gold eggs.

It is the perfect opportunity to jump into the game and, as there won’t be a new CoD in 2021, we’ll still have the chance to enjoy all the new Warzone updates for free, on any platform.

What are you waiting for?
