You’ll surely remember its debut as one of the most successful in the history of video games. Everyone loved it until, gradually, people lost interest due to the lack of new updates.
Respawn and Electronic Arts, however, have never thrown in the towel in their efforts to rescue it and, wow, have they ever succeeded! Two years later, after the launch of Season 8: Mayhem, the game is more alive than ever.
It’s been a long road on which, they admit, the creators have had to learn how the market really works for games “as a service”, with constant updates.
Including season passes, constantly updating with new mechanics, weapons and above all one-of-a-kind characters called legends has been more than enough, along with a good, playable foundation, to make Apex a major battle royale.
Enjoying long battles in teams of two or three players, trying to be the last standing as the ring closes. All the basic premises of a battle royale, but with its own spin.
Long down-time, unique characters with their own skills and more tactical depth to the battles, in which we are dependent on what the rest of our squad does.
The latest season perfectly exemplifies how far Apex Legends has come by incorporating dozens of new things to keep growing the game and solidifying its position in the market.
The most noteworthy, as always, is the new character on the scene. We’re talking about Fuse, a wild legend who can launch grenades from unbelievable distances or create a highly destructive ring of fire.
There is also a new weapon, Battle Pass and additional chapters of a lore that is only growing as the game matures and reaffirms its place as a top-notch battle royale.
Plus, there have been changes to King’s Canyon that completely transform the original map, giving the game new life. With, of course, a series of events that seems to be endless.
However, the new playables aren’t the only thing to highlight from the recent past and imminent future of Apex Legends. Respawn deserves congratulations and Apex Legends is more accessible than ever.
The systems just keep improving and, in addition to crossplay, it is now available on Steam. Both of these functionalities have been added recently to make it easier for players to enjoy the game.
The most noteworthy news, however, is that from 9 March, the game is now on Nintendo Switch, so we can play Apex Legends anywhere.
Plus, Electronic Arts has confirmed the game will be coming to mobiles soon. Unfortunately, this latest drop that will bring the battle royale to all platforms doesn’t have a confirmed launch date yet, but it shouldn’t be far off.
If you haven’t returned or never tried Apex Legends... What are you waiting for?
