Far cry 6

Drop date announced for Far Cry 6 Ubisoft has finally confirmed the launch of one of its most anxiously awaited franchises will be on 7 October 2021, making it one of the biggest drops in what’s left of the year.

Drop date announced for Far Cry 6 Ubisoft has finally confirmed the launch of one of its most anxiously awaited franchises will be on 7 October 2021, making it one of the biggest drops in what’s left of the year.

The announcement came with a first sample of the game’s key playables after months of small details from the developer on the plot, characters and setting.

We’re going to Yara, a fictional state clearly based on a tropical island that is divided into those loyal to the dictator and small pockets of resistance fighters.

The setting is the first big change: although we’ll have some rural zones, this time Far Cry is focusing on urban environments and cities as a necessary contrast and change from previous editions.

Just a two-minute car ride will take us from the impressive yet antiquated settlements on the Island to the forests and jungles where the dangers aren’t exactly from political persecution.

We control Dani Rojas, a character who can be either male or female and is looking for revenge for personal more than political reasons.

At least that is how it will be in the beginning of this plot that has the same goal as its predecessors: to be interesting enough without taking itself too seriously in order to give us a truly massive selection of games.

This is clear in the new playable functions, which let you make the craziest weapons, which can even play the Macarena while they wait for you to shoot.

These contraptions are just the tip of the iceberg in terms the personalisation and arms system that promises to be even bigger than the previous games, allowing you to create your own arsenal.

The Backpacks also stand out, with various advantages that can range from a small jetpack to the ability to launch missiles from your back or to carry flamethrower tanks.

In short, a crazy escalation of violence that clearly shows the intentions of Far Cry 6 and the obvious contradictions between the serious premises of the series and its legitimate aspirations to be as fun as possible.

Chorizo is proof of this: a sausage dog with a curious name and permanently injured rear legs that, nevertheless, promises to be the perfect companion for the occasion.

The Castillo dynasty has oppressed and militarised Yara, but everything points to the fact that Far Cry will give us a new villain who is tyrannical yet charismatic, played by Giancarlo Esposito (Breaking Bad, The Mandalorian and The Boys).

The media hype is growing around this game that promises to offer a giant world and has spared no cost in putting a new spin on the franchise, going further down the path of the fifth game.

The new instalment of Far Cry attempts to chart the saga’s course for the future and keep surprising players. The original launched in 2004 and, although the formula was already perfect, it was time for a full overhaul.

Far Cry 6 will be available on 7 October for Xbox One, Xbox Series, PS4, PS5 and PC. Are you going to miss out?
